VIERA HAMMERS WRESTLING CLUB

The Viera Hammers Wrestling Club (VHWC) is a youth wrestling program and an official club chartered under USA Wrestling, the governing body of the U.S. Olympic Wrestling Team.

The Viera Hammers Wrestling Club is also an official club affiliated with AAU Wrestling (Amateur Athletic Union).

The Viera Hammers Wrestling Club is home of the Viera High School boys and girls wrestling teams.

The mission of the Viera Hammers is to grow and promote the great sport of wrestling throughout Viera, Brevard County, and the state of Florida.

Our goal is to introduce and reinforce the foundational principles of wrestling to build confidence in our youth, both on and off the mat. We believe that the principles learned through the sport of wrestling go well beyond just winning and losing.

When it comes to developing our student-athletes, we encourage our wrestlers to take pride in discipline and accountability. We accomplish this by promoting “The 6 C’s: Commitment, Consistency, Coachability, Competition, Communication, and Character.

The Viera Hammers Wrestling Club is open to all boys and girls in Elementary, Middle, and High School (Grades K-12).

Collegiate Wrestlers, Coaches, and Alumni are encouraged to contact the coaching staff for alternative Practice and Clinician opportunities.

The Viera Hammers Wrestling Club is home of the Viera High School boys and girls wrestling teams.

The Viera High School wrestling team completed the 2024-2025 Wrestling Season with 7 state qualifiers and 6 state place winners, including Brevard County’s first ever girls State Champion.

The Viera High School Wrestling program saw success as a whole, with the boys team finishing 26th in the state and the girls team finishing 6th in the state, respectively.

The Viera Wrestling program also experienced accomplishments at the national level this past season with their first ever High School All-Americans.

Out of 7 Viera Wrestlers competing at the National level, 2 members of the Viera girls wrestling team earned All-American Honors at the NHSCA Senior Nationals in Virginia Beach, VA (National High School Coaches Association).

In a field of over 64+ competitors in each division, from all around the country, the girls finished in the Top 8 in their respective weight divisions. In addition, one of our girls earned National Ranking status, becoming the #25 ranked 135lb female high school wrestler in the entire country.

Both girls will be graduating from Viera High School and continuing their wrestling careers at the collegiate level in the NCAA.

To date, multiple members of the Viera Wrestling program have gone on to wrestle and compete at the collegiate level; including the NCAA, NAIA, and NCWA.

Our experience with Viera Hammers has been nothing short of incredible. The coaching staff creates an environment built on hard work, resilience, and respect—values that extend far beyond the mat.

More than just teaching technique, the coaches instill discipline, perseverance, and sportsmanship, shaping kids into confident and driven individuals. The sense of community is just as strong, with teammates pushing each other to be their best.

Wrestling isn’t easy, but that’s what makes it so rewarding. The lessons learned here—commitment, mental toughness, and hard work—prepare kids for success in every aspect of life.

If you want a sport that builds character and confidence, youth wrestling is it. And with the right coaches, the experience is truly life-changing!

My son has wrestled all 4 years of high school under Jason Custer and Chris Zuniga as his coaches. Not just 'in season', but also off-season through the Viera Hammers Wrestling Club. Most parents have heard that wrestling is one of the hardest sports anyone can do. It will grow, develop, challenge, mature and strengthen your child more than you could ever imagine! Wrestling may not be for everyone, but I feel everyone should at least try it!

My daughter (who plays competitive travel softball) is an incoming Freshman and because of watching her brother the last 4 years, and more importantly seeing the girls program grow and flourish, she is trying wrestling for the first time!

The coaches are extremely approachable and always quick to respond and make themselves available to the parents. The relationship that the coaches have with the wrestlers is very unique and is made up of mutual respect, sometimes met with tough love but always full of compassion because they want to see your wrestler reach their goals and succeed! Both coaches have their children in the program as well which says a lot!

If you are looking to increase confidence in your child, have them learn to be challenged persevere, overcome any obstacles in their life I would highly recommend them coming to this sport and this team!
