The Viera Hammers Wrestling Club is also an official club affiliated with AAU Wrestling (Amateur Athletic Union).
The Viera Hammers Wrestling Club is home of the Viera High School boys and girls wrestling teams.
The mission of the Viera Hammers is to grow and promote the great sport of wrestling throughout Viera, Brevard County, and the state of Florida.
Our goal is to introduce and reinforce the foundational principles of wrestling to build confidence in our youth, both on and off the mat. We believe that the principles learned through the sport of wrestling go well beyond just winning and losing.
When it comes to developing our student-athletes, we encourage our wrestlers to take pride in discipline and accountability. We accomplish this by promoting “The 6 C’s: Commitment, Consistency, Coachability, Competition, Communication, and Character.
The Viera Hammers Wrestling Club is open to all boys and girls in Elementary, Middle, and High School (Grades K-12).
Collegiate Wrestlers, Coaches, and Alumni are encouraged to contact the coaching staff for Practice, Camp, and Clinician opportunities.
All athletes and/or coaches participating in practice are required to have an active AAU Wrestling athlete or coach membership with a designation to the Viera Hammers Wrestling Club.

Out of 7 Viera Wrestlers competing at the National level, 2 members of the Viera girls wrestling team earned All-American Honors at the NHSCA Senior Nationals in Virginia Beach, VA (National High School Coaches Association).
In a field of over 64+ competitors in each division, from all around the country, the girls finished in the Top 8 in their respective weight divisions. In addition, one of our girls wrestlers earned National Ranking status becoming the #25 ranked 135lb female high school wrestler in the entire country.
Both All-Americans will be graduating from Viera High School and moving on to wrestle at the collegiate level in the NCAA.
To date, several members of the Viera Wrestling team have gone on to wrestle and compete at the collegiate level, including the NCAA, NAIA, and NCWA. Numerous Hawks have received multiple academic and athletic scholarships to compete at the next level.

Our experience with Viera Hammers has been nothing short of incredible. The coaching staff creates an environment built on hard work, resilience, and respect—values that extend far beyond the mat.
More than just teaching technique, the coaches instill discipline, perseverance, and sportsmanship, shaping kids into confident and driven individuals. The sense of community is just as strong, with teammates pushing each other to be their best.
Wrestling isn’t easy, but that’s what makes it so rewarding. The lessons learned here—commitment, mental toughness, and hard work—prepare kids for success in every aspect of life.
If you want a sport that builds character and confidence, youth wrestling is it. And with the right coaches, the experience is truly life-changing!

My son has wrestled all 4 years of high school under Jason Custer and Chris Zuniga as his coaches. Not just 'in season', but also off-season through the Viera Hammers Wrestling Club. Most parents have heard that wrestling is one of the hardest sports anyone can do. It will grow, develop, challenge, mature and strengthen your child more than you could ever imagine! Wrestling may not be for everyone, but I feel everyone should at least try it!
My daughter (who plays competitive travel softball) is an incoming Freshman and because of watching her brother the last 4 years, and more importantly seeing the girls program grow and flourish, she is trying wrestling for the first time!
The coaches are extremely approachable and always quick to respond and make themselves available to the parents. The relationship that the coaches have with the wrestlers is very unique and is made up of mutual respect, sometimes met with tough love but always full of compassion because they want to see your wrestler reach their goals and succeed! Both coaches have their children in the program as well which says a lot!
If you are looking to increase confidence in your child, have them learn to be challenged persevere, overcome any obstacles in their life I would highly recommend them coming to this sport and this team!

Testimonials
Outstanding Experience with Hammers Wrestling Club!
We've explored other sports like MMA and karate, but Hammers Wrestling Club has been the most welcoming by far. From the start, the coaches and team made my son feel comfortable and supported.
What stands out the most is the individual attention each child receives during practice. There’s no pressure to compete, allowing kids to learn and grow at their own pace. The coaches show incredible patience with beginners, creating an encouraging environment for all skill levels.
My son is now in his fourth week and absolutely loves it! While some of the champion teens help lead practices, the coaches are very hands-on, ensuring quality instruction. I also appreciate that younger wrestlers can look up to high school athletes as role models—it’s inspiring to see the potential path ahead.
I’m excited to watch my son develop under their guidance and highly recommend Hammers Wrestling Club to any parent looking for a supportive, structured, and positive wrestling program.
Our family has been involved with the Viera Hammers wrestling club since its reboot after Covid, and we couldn't be happier. As an elementary school parent, it's fantastic to see how the high school wrestlers genuinely treat my son as one of their own, fostering a real sense of camaraderie. The coaches are truly exceptional—their knowledge and intensity are balanced by a personable approach that really motivates the kids. Beyond just wrestling skills, the program instills vital values like dedication, hard work, and discipline. It's clear this club is quickly becoming a strong feeder program for the high school team, preparing young athletes not just for the mat, but for life.
