Meet the Coaches

Jason Custer
HEAD COACH

Head Coach Jason Custer is originally from Pennsylvania. He wrestled for Penn Cambria High School and York College of Pennsylvania (NCAA Division III Wrestling).

While competing at York College, he was a Team Captain, a 4-year starter, 2x Conference Runner-Up, & member of teams consistently ranked in the Top 25 in the Nation in the NCAA Division III.

After college, Coach Custer moved to Florida and started a career in finance where he used the same tenacity and work ethic that he learned on the wrestling mat to excel in business. During his time in Finance, Custer achieved numerous personal accolades, along with his teams being Top Performing units within the organization. In 2024, Coach Custer changed careers, becoming a full-time educator at Viera High School.

In 2021, Coach Custer accepted his first ever coaching position, taking over as the Head Coach of the Viera High School Wrestling Program. Under Coach Custer’s tutelage, the wrestling programs have built a level of consistency, with both the boys and girls programs now ranked among the top teams in the state of Florida.

In 2022, Coach Custer established the Viera Hammers Wrestling Club with the goal of creating an environment where all student athletes will learn, grow, and achieve success both on and off the mat. This vision continues today and the program continues to grow throughout the community.

Christopher Zuniga

Coach Chris Zuniga is a Florida native and competed for the Vero Beach Senior High School Fighting Indians from 2000 - 2004; where he was the MVP and 2x Team Captain. Coach Zuniga went on to wrestle for the University of Central Florida, where he was part of the 2005 NCWA National Championship Team.

In 2006, Coach Zuniga decided to pursue other forms of competition and began practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts. In 2007, he began competing in professional MMA where he compiled a professional record of 3 wins, 2 losses. Coach Zuniga has trained with many notable UFC, Bellator, and various other professional competitors and has continued to expand his wrestling knowledge while training and competing with numerous NCAA Division I wrestlers. Coach Zuniga still enjoys practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and currently holds the rank of purple belt.

Coach Zuniga first began coaching in high school by volunteering at his local youth wrestling club. In 2008, he became the assistant coach at his alma mater Vero Beach High School, where he coached multiple state placers and their second ever state champion in 2009. In 2014, he became head coach at Vero Beach High School, where he coached multiple state qualifiers. In 2021, Coach Zuniga began his current role at Viera High School as the head assistant wrestling coach, where he has helped coach recent state placers and state qualifiers.

Coach Zuniga also has a passion for helping others off the mat. Once a former firefighter/EMT, he is now currently employed as a full-time law enforcement officer and detective. He continues to share his passion for teaching as a trainer and instructor for various subject matters, including defensive tactics. Coach Zuniga credits the lessons learned on the wrestling mat for his success in his current career, where he has earned multiple commendations and awards, including Officer of the year in 2021.

Curtis Doctor
VOLUNTEER ASSISTANT COACH

Coach Curtis was a 4-year varsity wrestler at Miami Sunset Senior High School in Miami, FL, where he was the Greater Miami Athletic Conference Champion. After graduating in 2015, he attended Reinhardt University in Waleska, Georgia.

While attending Reinhardt University, he was a member of the Eagles wrestling team and competed at 141 lbs. and 149 lbs. in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). He earned collegiate accolades by becoming a 2x conference champion and a 3x NAIA national qualifier.

Coach Curtis Doctor Graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Sports Administration with a minor in Business.

Jeff Cotto
VOLUNTEER ASSISTANT COACH

Coach Jeff Cotto was a 4-year varsity wrestler from 1996 – 2000 for the Palm Bay High School Pirates. Coach Cotto was a three-time FHSAA Florida state qualifier and two-time FHSAA Florida state place-winner. Coach Cotto was also a Florida State Finalist finishing as the state runner-up. Coach Cotto was recruited to compete for NCAA Division I program The Citadel Military College. After a short time with the Citadel wrestling program, Coach Cotto made the decision to enlist and serve his country for several years as a special forces operator. Coach Cotto is now a successful entrepreneur and business owner.

Greg Agcaoili
VOLUNTEER ASSISTANT COACH

Coach Greg Agcaoili competed for Sunny Hills High School in California, where he was the MVP of his wrestling team. Coach Agcaoili has spent the past several years helping and coaching the Viera Kid’s Wrestling Programs. Coach Agcaoili continues to share his knowledge and passion for the sport with
our young student-athletes in the youth and junior varsity programs.

Steven Hoppe
VOLUNTEER ASSISTANT COACH

Coach Hoppe is father of Viera Wrestling's first girls State Champion, Emma Hoppe. He has been an instrumental part of the Viera Hammers and Hawks wrestling programs behind the scenes for the past few years and we are excited to have him step into the role of Coach. Coach Hoppe wrestled in high school and will continue to serve a vital role to Viera Wrestling as Assistant Coach for the youth, JV, and girls wrestling programs.
